PSV Eindhoven aim to get back on track in the Eredivisie with a home match against SC Heerenveen. Peter Bosz's side must respond on Friday night at the Philips Stadion following a 3-2 defeat at FC Twente a fortnight ago.
That setback interrupted a run in which PSV had taken the lead, on average, in just the 23rd minute across their previous four matches. Their attack has been prolific so far with 24 goals, four of them scored by Sven Mijnans. PSV currently sit third in the table with 16 points from seven games, three points behind leaders AZ Alkmaar.
Heerenveen travel to Eindhoven from tenth place. The Frisians won their last league match 4-0 at Sparta Rotterdam but had struggled for consistency before that. In the last meeting between the sides, in February, PSV won 3-1.
For his lineup, Bosz can call upon a largely fit squad. The last starting eleven against Twente featured goalkeeper Matěj Kovář, defenders Sergiño Dest, Lutsharel Geertruida, Armando Obispo and Mauro Júnior, midfielders Kodai Sano, Paul Wanner and Ivan Perišić, and forwards Guus Til, Ricardo van Bommel and Ricardo Pepi. Til scored both PSV goals in Enschede. The current squad list and full fixtures schedule are available on this site.
A victory is important to keep pace with the teams above them. The match against Heerenveen kicks off at 8pm local time on Friday.
