PSV Eindhoven signing Mikkel Bro Hansen has been named in The Guardian's annual list of the world's top football talents. The 17-year-old Danish striker features on the prestigious ranking for players born in 2009.

The English newspaper published its selection of 60 global talents this week. Alongside Hansen, two Ajax players, Abdellah Ouazane and Mohamed Abdalla, and Feyenoord's Jerayno Schaken are also represented. Hansen moved from FK Bodø/Glimt to PSV this summer for a fee of three million euros.

Hansen's qualities

The young forward can shoot powerfully and accurately with both feet and is praised for his mobility and game intelligence. His former manager Kjetil Knutsen described him as "dedicated, football-smart and with immense work ethic". Hansen had previously been linked with a move to Barcelona before choosing PSV.

Eredivisie context

The recognition for Hansen comes as PSV are in excellent form. The team sits third in the Eredivisie with 16 points from seven matches and is on a run of four consecutive victories. PSV has scored 24 goals this season, averaging a goal every 26 minutes of play. They trail leaders AZ by three points. The next fixture is a home match against sc Heerenveen, who currently sit tenth. The last meeting between the sides, in February, ended in a 3-1 victory for PSV.

PSV's full squad is available on our club page, along with the current league standings. The upcoming fixtures offer Hansen the chance to prove his talent at the highest level. His contract with PSV runs for several more seasons.
