PSV Eindhoven is considering Filip Kostic as a new left-back to replace departing left-back Anass Salah-Eddine. The club, currently fifth in the Eredivisie with zero points after the summer break, is looking for a free-transfer solution to fill the left-back slot.
Who else is on the shortlist?
Alongside Kostic, the names Hugo Bueno and Adam Aznou are also circulating at PSV. Bueno previously played for the Eindhoven club on loan before returning to AS Roma, but his name is back in the mix under technical director Earnest Stewart’s search. Bueno’s potential return to the Netherlands would be an option, as would Kostic’s, who featured for FC Groningen between 2012 and 2014.
PSV has yet to secure a breakthrough in its left-back hunt. According to PSV-watcher Elfrink of the Eindhovens Dagblad, Kostic is indeed on the shortlist, but little is certain. Competition for the Serbia international is fierce, with multiple clubs vying for his signature.
What did Kostic do at FC Groningen?
Kostic made 50 appearances for FC Groningen between 2012 and 2014, scoring 12 goals and providing nine assists. The club signed him for just over one million euros from Radnički 1923 and later sold him to VfB Stuttgart for six million euros. His Juventus contract expired on 1 July 2026, making him a free agent.
Why is Kostic a fit for PSV?
For Kostic, a move to PSV would mean a return to Dutch football. The 72-time Serbia international has Eredivisie experience and could step straight into the starting XI. His profile aligns with PSV’s need for an experienced left-back, especially as the club has yet to finalize a deal.
PSV’s next fixture is at home against FC Twente on 14 February 2027. The Eindhoven side currently sits fifth in the Eredivisie with zero points, zero goals scored, and zero conceded.
