PSV Eindhoven have clarified the future of Myron Boadu. The free agent trained with the squad this summer, but a new contract is not on the table yet.
What did Earnest Stewart say?
Earnest Stewart, director at PSV Eindhoven, spoke to the Eindhovens Dagblad about Boadu’s situation. His contract expired at the end of June, making him a free agent. Stewart confirmed Boadu is welcome to maintain his fitness, but there’s no room for him in the squad. "We can’t have three players in every position and sometimes solve things within our own ranks," Stewart said.
The club currently has Alassane Pléa, still recovering from a serious knee injury last season. His progress remains under watch in the coming weeks. Ricardo Pepi is also still in the picture, despite a delayed transfer in February. Stewart commented on Pepi: "He said he wants to stay here. That’s good, because he’s an excellent striker."
Why is PSV Eindhoven missing a striker now?
PSV Eindhoven currently lacks a natural striker option. Boadu left for free, Pléa isn’t fit yet, and Pepi’s future was once uncertain. Stewart stressed the need for flexibility. "We sometimes solve things within our own ranks," he said. The absence of a clear number 9 forces the club to get creative in attack.
With the Eredivisie still in full pre-season mode, PSV Eindhoven sit 5th in the league table, with 0 points and 0 goals scored or conceded. Their next fixture is scheduled for February 14, 2027 at home against Twente.
Adamo Nagalo seeks new club
Alongside Boadu, PSV Eindhoven faces another issue with Adamo Nagalo. His move to Çorum FK and later RC Lens collapsed. Now Konyaspor appears interested again. The defender already played on loan for the Turkish club from last winter’s transfer window. A new loan deal could ease pressure on the squad.
Stewart noted the club will keep searching for solutions. "We have to shuffle things within our own ranks sometimes," he said. The coming weeks will be crucial for both Nagalo and the rest of the squad.
