PSV Eindhoven has reached the next round of the Champions League. In a thriller in Eindhoven, Juventus was defeated in extra time with a margin of two goals, enough to wipe out the defeat from the first leg. Coach Peter Bosz made one change to his starting lineup compared to the first leg in Turin. Olivier Boscagli started centrally in the defense in place of Armando Obispo. At Juve, Teun Koopmeiners could count on a starting spot this time. The early departure of Chelsea loanee Renato Veiga was a blow to De Oude Dame. Andrea Cambiaso replaced the Portuguese within a quarter of an hour, but the Italians didn't necessarily become weaker as a result. Juventus took the initiative from the home team at times and created the better chances in the first half. Striker Randal Kolo Muani came closest after a clever pass from Koopmeiners. However, at halftime, the score was still 0-0. Immediately after the break, PSV could take the first shot on goal. Ivan Perisic followed the recipe that had given him a goal a week earlier in Turin, but this time Juve goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio was in the way. When Noa Lang fired the ball into the side net a few moments later, it became clear that the Eindhoven team was determined to tap into a different vein in the second half. A little later, it was indeed a hit, when the two previous main players set the Philips Stadium ablaze. Lang found Perisic with a hard pass. The Croatian's control was subsequently sublime, after which he left Di Gregorio helpless: 1-0. The dam was broken and Juve wobbled. In the phase after the opening goal, PSV had chance after chance, and the Italians were lucky that the home team didn't extend their lead. Then it became quiet in Eindhoven when Timothy Weah scored from a considerable distance with a rebounded free kick. Initially, the goal was disallowed due to offside, but the VAR ruled that PSV had not been hindered: 1-1. At the moment when the Philips Stadium feared an old-fashioned Italian time-wasting game, the fans could suddenly celebrate again. Perisic set up the attack after a good move, and after Luuk de Jong had some trouble with the control, Ismael Saibari scored. Then PSV failed to decide the tie and extra time had to be played. After PSV suffered a few ugly tackles, a piece of magic followed from substitute Johan Bakayoko. The Belgian right winger cut out his direct opponent and found Ryan Flamingo at the first post with a bit of luck. The central defender worked the 3-1 inside, after which PSV had to survive for over twenty minutes. As is customary for a Bosz team, PSV did not do this by hanging back in their own sixteen. Before the break in extra time, Saibari had a great opportunity to decide the tie once and for all. A few moments later, Dusan Vlahovic hit the post. Then the countdown to the final whistle began. The spectators in the stadium must have wondered if PSV Eindhoven would achieve the victory.
