PSV Eindhoven are considering a move for Netherlands international Lutsharel Geertruida, who has 21 caps for his country. According to Eindhovens Dagblad, the reigning Eredivisie champions are interested, but RB Leipzig’s asking price remains a major hurdle.
The 24-year-old defender can operate as a right-back or centre-back. Director of football Earnest Stewart views him as a potential reinforcement for the defence. Geertruida, who spent last season on loan at Sunderland, still has three years left on his Leipzig contract. His market value is estimated at €20 million, a fee that currently exceeds PSV Eindhoven’s budget.
A permanent deal seems unlikely due to Leipzig’s high demands. A loan move could be a viable alternative, though it remains unclear if this is feasible for PSV. Geertruida is currently preparing for the new Bundesliga season, which begins for Leipzig on 29 August with a match against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
PSV Eindhoven, who won the Eredivisie last season with 74 points (24 wins, 2 draws, 4 losses) and a goal difference of +44 (84 scored, 40 conceded), are looking to strengthen their defence. With a 19-point lead over Feyenoord and their next fixture at home to Twente on 14 February 2027, the club aims to build on last season’s success. Jerdy Schouten is currently sidelined.
