PSV Eindhoven regains control over the futures of Joey Veerman and Sergino Dest. The transfer clauses of the players are about to expire, giving PSV more control over their futures. According to a report by PSV watcher Rik Elfrink of Eindhovens Dagblad, Veerman has been hoping to move abroad for several years and has previously expressed a preference for Italy or Spain. Yet, despite interest in his situation, no club has made a concrete approach so far this summer. That could change in the coming weeks, although PSV are about to regain greater control over the midfielder's future. PSV agreed a transfer clause with Veerman that allows him to leave for approximately €20 million. According to multiple sources, the clause expires sometime between August 15 and 20, meaning interested clubs have only a short window remaining to activate it. If a club offers €20 million or more before the deadline, PSV are obliged to accept the bid. However, once the clause expires, the situation changes significantly. PSV would no longer be required to approve a transfer, meaning the club would have greater control over whether Veerman leaves. That does not necessarily mean a move would become impossible. PSV could still agree to sell Veerman after the clause expires, particularly if a suitable offer arrives and the club can secure a replacement. Veerman has two years remaining on his current contract and has spent almost five years at PSV. During the club's training camp in Germany in July, Veerman admitted he was surprised that no concrete interest had emerged. He reiterated his preference for Italy or Spain but did not rule out other leagues. Any interested club, however, would need to be prepared to spend a significant amount to prise him away. Veerman has also made clear that he remains happy at PSV despite his ambitions to play abroad. 'It's certainly not a prison,' he said with a touch of humour when discussing his situation. Borussia Dortmund are among those monitoring Veerman's situation, although the German club have not yet approached PSV. If Dortmund or another interested side wants to take advantage of the €20 million clause, they will need to move quickly. A similar situation occurred last year when Brentford made a late approach for Veerman, but PSV ultimately retained the midfielder. According to PSV watcher Rik Elfrink, the lack of concrete interest in the United States international means a departure is becoming less likely as the transfer deadline approaches. Elfrink comments on the situation on X: 'Dest's sales clause expires this weekend already. After 15 August, PSV does not have to cooperate with a transfer. Until that time, the previously mentioned 23 million remains the limit. A transfer can theoretically still happen later if a great offer comes in and a good replacement can be found.'
