PSV Eindhoven plans to play its first friendly match in the preseason on Saturday, July 4. As the champion, the club does not have to worry about European football in the qualifying rounds, as PSV will soon be in the competitive phase of the Champions League. On August 2, PSV will play against AZ for the Johan Cruijff Schaal, and at least five friendly matches will be completed beforehand. All those matches can be seen via PSV Play. After July 4, there will be two more unknown friendly matches on July 11 and 18. From July 20 to 24, PSV will stay in Germany, and the next day, Villarreal will be the opponent in the Philips Stadium. The Spanish club finished third in La Liga last season, so PSV has found a top-notch friendly opponent. The Lichtstadderby against FC Eindhoven is also on the schedule. This way, the PSV preseason seems to be similar to last year's, when PSV first played against Athletic Bilbao and then ended the friendly campaign against the city rival.
